(Men's Golf) UAB junior golfer Zach Sucher has been selected as one of 12 collegiate golfers to represent the United States at the 2008 Fuji Xerox USA vs. Japan Collegiate Golf Championship, announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America. The 33rd annual competition will be held July 16-18 at the Tokyo Golf Club. Team USA leads the all-time series, 24-8, and has won the last eight competitions in Japan. - UAB Travels To Troy For Final Non-Conference Game

(Football) UAB senior safety Will Dunbar is among the standout collegiate players named Monday to the 2008 Bronko Nagurski Trophy Watch List as selected by the Football Writers Association of America. (Baseball) Ryan Keedy hit two doubles to tie the UAB school record for single-season doubles (24) and added a home run to combine for six RBI and lead UAB to a 14-3 seven-inning victory over UCF at Jay Bergman Field Sunday afternoon. (Baseball) Payton Gardner, a right-handed pitcher from Mountain Brook High School in Mountain Brook, Ala., has signed a National Letter of Intent to play baseball at UAB as announced by UAB head coach Brian Shoop Friday. Gardner was 5-1 with a 1.70 ERA at Mountain Brook this past season. - UAB Travels To Play UCF This Weekend
(Baseball) With two league weekends remaining in its 2008 season, the UAB baseball team will look to play its way into the Conference USA Championship this weekend at UCF. The Blazers have won five straight games against the Knights entering the weekend after sweeping UCF at Young Memorial Field last season. UCF is currently in seventh place in the C-USA standings, while UAB is in ninth, a half game behind Memphis for eighth. - Blazers Knocked Out Of C-USA Tournament By Memphis

(Women's Volleyball) Kerry Messersmith, who has turned around the fortunes of the UAB volleyball program in dramatic fashion the past two years, has received a two-year contract extension. She has led the Blazers to a record of 51-20 in two seasons, winning the C-USA championship in 2006 and finishing as runner-up last fall. - UAB And Jacksonville State Split Pair Of Blowouts Wednesday
(Baseball) The UAB Blazers earned a 17-3 victory in its resumed game versus Jacksonville State at Young Memorial Field Wednesday night but the Gamecocks were able to rebound and win game two of the night, 17-8.
